Orchestra HallOrchestra Hall

We need a volunteer or two to take charge of the Orchestra Hall concert, to be held on Sunday, April 1. The North bands and orchestras get their chance to shine at the historical, acoustically perfect Orchestra Hall. This special concert needs a special chairperson--or two co-chairs. We also need a volunteer to put together the paper program; to find out what this job entails, click on http://www.gpninstrumental.org/images/forms/Orchestra-Hall-Program.pdf

If you can chair the concert, contact Mr. Cleveland at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . (photo)

Cookie Dough FundraiserCookie Dough Fundraiser

The Boosters' next fund-raiser is the cookie dough sale, which runs January 4-19. Proceeds from this sale go toward your child's Toronto trip or future trips. The money earned from the cookie dough sale goes to the students' trip accounts even if they don't go to Toronto this year.  (photo)

Kroger Rewards Program 2011-2012 PDF Print E-mail
kroger_copyDid you know that for the 1st quarter (May,June,July 2011) GPN Band & Orchestra had 78 households participating in the Kroger Community Rewards Program and earned approximately $1,340 towards the Booster program and individual student band trip expenses? Check the bottom of your next Kroger receipt. It should say "Grosse Pointe North H.S. Band & Orch". If you haven't visited www.krogercommunityrewards.com since April 2011 and designated the Grosse Pointe North Band & Orchestra Boosters (#83003) as the recipient, you may be losing your card earnings - Kroger will not forward card earnings until you renew via the website. Instructions for the enrollment/renewal process can be found here. This is a no-brainer to earn funds for your student. Be sure you are participating.  Look at your receipt, then contact Mrs. Amy Bakowski at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 2011 - 2012 Pep Band Season Is Upon Us! PDF Print E-mail

pepband2011Dear North Parents and Students:

Pep Band Season is Here! The Pep Band is a highly recognized organization that performs at the North varsity football games. It is responsible for much of the school’s spirit and has the support of the entire school. The North Pep Band is open to all 9th-12th graders who play flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, or drums. Except for drums, no audition is required to be in the pep band. (Drums were auditioned in the spring.) However, students must be enrolled in band or orchestra class to participate in Pep Band.

Pep Band practice begins with several rehearsals prior to the start of school so that we can be ready for the first football game. To accommodate those who are involved in sports, I have scheduled the rehearsal dates and times to reduce conflicts. In the event that you are unable to make some of these rehearsals, just let me know by phone or email. All rehearsals will be in the North Band/Orchestra Room (C-101).

This year the Pop Band will be performing at Cedar Point on Tuesday, August 30th.  Please make every attempt to attend this event so we can sound our best.  After we perform, students will have the entire day to enjoy the park.

Orchestra members who would like to participate in Pep Band may perform on a secondary instrument. (We have had several orchestra members perform with the Pep Band in previous years.)

Parents, please make note of the Parent's Meeting on Tuesday, August 16th.  Important information will be covered.

Pep Band has been great fun in past years and I look forward to getting started this season. I want to especially encourage incoming ninth-graders to participate in the Pep Band; it is a wonderful way to meet friends and get involved in your school. With over 60 members in last year’s Pep Band, this year’s group looks to be the best yet!
